It's everywhere, we're fascinated and scared by it, artificial intelligence has been the subject of much discussion in recent months because it will have major impacts on our daily lives and it's happening very quickly. In a few months, what we know today will have changed and it's hard to imagine.
I am very interested in the subject and every day I try to learn a little more about it. I wonder how it can help me in my business, the sectors of application, the impacts it will have on our lives and much more.
At the same time, I see a lot of articles about how more and more people are living with mental health issues, how the percentage of people taking antidepressants is increasing, how obesity in the population is on the rise, and how a huge number of men and women are living in isolation without anyone knowing it. Can artificial intelligence help reduce these situations or make them worse?
I make and sell skipping ropes. The primary goal is obviously to put bread on my table and a roof over my head. I could have sold cakes or beer, but my conscience wouldn't be clear. Like you, I've had my share of difficulties, and now I want to contribute as much as I can and as best I can to your well-being. Through Handle & Wire, I share the values of a healthy lifestyle and the benefits it has for your overall health. I am therefore concerned about your health and that of your loved ones.
Let's discuss the subject together if you like.
Already, several headlines are mentioning jobs that will be replaced by AI. Boom! Immediate source of stress even before losing the job in question. Take deep breaths, in through your nose and out deeply. AI can tell you this, but it will never be able to do it and regain your calm for you.
AI contributes to medical advances. It's fantastic since my friend who died of cancer when I was 8 years old could have been cured and enjoyed a healthy life, but it's healing. Isn't there an adage that says prevention is better than cure? How will it be able to prevent health problems? It won't be able to move for you and transmit energy expenditure to you. You won't be able to ask ChatGPT to give you the willpower to get off the couch and go exercise, to eat well, and to stop drinking alcohol. It also won't be able to help you sleep better.
I was recently reading that antidepressant use is on the rise and that it's difficult to find a psychotherapist. Easy, I'm going to talk to ChatGPT about my worries. He's neutral, unlike my friends who confront my ideas and help shape my personality and character. You can vent, but you can't shed a tear on his shoulder. There aren't any! For the moment...
So, AI can't move for you and give you the willpower to do so and eat well. The problems of obesity and diseases that result from physical inactivity are not solved. Moving is a natural remedy for depression, it's well known. If I don't move, then I take medication. Is isolation solved? Not either!
I'm a sociable person, even if I tend to be a loner. I like smiling at people and talking to strangers, but now that makes me a weirdo. I notice that almost only older people who haven't kept up with technology make eye contact and greet me in return. Human contact is becoming rarer, and communication is done via smartphone.
Good mental and physical health requires exercise, good sleep, good nutrition, and good human relationships. Sorry, unless I'm missing something, I don't see what AI can do to contribute to basic well-being. It takes courage, willpower, and discipline to maintain good health. Only you can do it, but you can do it. Join a dance club, boxing, yoga, CrossFit, running, or climbing club. Whatever it is, move with friends or strangers who will become your friends. Go there for the first time and smile at a stranger while looking at them. There's a kind of chemical reaction that occurs that feels good and makes you want to repeat the experience.
I'm off the subject of jump ropes, but we're getting straight to health. Thinking goes a long way and can go a very, very long way. I've shared my opinion on the subject with you. I'm an expert on jump ropes, not AI. I have a keen interest in wellness, and I'm eager to start the discussion with you.
You, what is your opinion and your reflection?
Take care and have fun.
