Tips for saving your shoulders in CrossFit Open 23.3

Tips for saving your shoulders in CrossFit Open 23.3

That's it! The test is out, and once again there will be double-unders! This is not surprising, because it's a beneficial exercise and accessible to all!

Except! Everything is well-programmed and designed to make the test very rewarding. The combination of movements chosen will get your shoulders working!

Wall walks, snatches, and strict handstand push-ups are all moves that directly target your shoulders.

There are a few tips for you to recover from your double-unders.

Relax your shoulders!

Yeah, easy to say, Phil! Yes, and it's easy to do. The trick is, stick your balls out, stick your chest out. What I mean by that is to slightly contract your shoulder blades, like when you want to adopt good posture!

Try it! You'll notice your shoulders immediately relax. Plus, it'll help your technique and make you whip toward the ground.

Whip with your wrists!

I often say that to be successful, you must first learn to jump, then use your wrist, not your forearm.

By whipping your wrist toward the ground, it will keep your arms close to you and keep your shoulders relaxed. As soon as you swing back, your arms will tend to open and involve your shoulders.

I'm not talking about the forearm technique. By rotating your rope with your forearm instead of your wrist, your upper body contracts. All your energy is spent there. Relax as much as possible.

Speak to your face!

Haha! You're probably thinking, "What's he saying?" I've noticed that people with tense faces have tense bodies. Take a deep breath and imagine yourself jumping in the middle of a forest in the fall. I can't believe you have a tense face in the middle of a forest in the fall!

Try it, I don't think what I'm saying is that crazy.

And the forearms?

It's true, there's a bit of gripping involved with snatches. To maintain your grip when performing double-unders, grip your rope with your hand closest to the ball bearings. The closer you grip your handle, the more leverage you create, and therefore, your forearm muscles pump and tire quickly.

Try it!

To finish in style!

It's simple: do it for fun. Do it with your community, your friends, and the passionate people around you.

I hope we meet soon!

Good 23.3

Phil
